Bass-baritone Blake Jennings is a native of Longview, Texas. This fall, Blake will join Boston University's Opera Institute debuting as Dottore Grenvil in Verdi's La Traviata. Mr. Jennings will also make make his debut at Boston Lyric Opera in the chorus of Rossini's Il Barbiere di Siviglia
Mr. Jennings' performance credits include covering Don Basilio in Rossini's Il Barbiere di Siviglia as well as covering Crespel and playing the role of Luther in Offenbach’s Les contes d’Hoffmann with Opera North (2018), covering the Bass in Phillip Glass’ Hydrogen Jukebox as well as covering Charon and playing the Fourth Spirit in Monteverdi’s L'Orfeo with Chautauqua Opera Company (2017), his professional debut as the Apparition in Verdi's Macbeth with Opera Company of Middlebury (2016), Chevally di Monterzuolo in the workshop and premiere recording of Michael Dellaira's The Leopard with American Opera Projects (2016), as well as Falstaff in Otto Nicolai's Die Lustigen Weiber von Windsor and The Prophet in Nico Muhly's Dark Sisters with Boston Conservatory (2017).
Blake has been a Young Artist with Opera North (2018), Chautauqua Opera Company (2017), Opera Company of Middlebury (2016), OperaWorks (2014), as well as Seagle Music Colony (2015, 2016) where he performed as Dulcamara in Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore, The Steward in Sondheim's Into The Woods, and Fiorello in Rossini's Il Barbiere di Siviglia.
Mr. Jennings received his Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Texas Christian University and his Master of Music in Opera Performance at Boston Conservatory under the instruction of Dr. Rebecca Folsom.
